Cataract Surgery

Cataract surgery is an outpatient procedure in the on-site operating theatre and is usually performed under local anaesthetic.  Detailed topography and OCT imaging allows us to accurately calculate your lens requirements and options. Many patients are keen to avoid the need for glasses following their cataract surgery. While we aim to minimise your need for glasses post-operatively We will discuss the suitability of each option for your eyes and lifestyle with you at your appointment.

Dr Alex Buller is particularly interested in the more complex cataract cases such as traumatic cataracts and those with concurrent ophthalmic conditions.

Refractive Lens Exchange

Patients who want a long-term solution to vision correction that does not involve wearing glasses or contact lenses but who are not suitable for laser eye surgery may be suitable for refractive lens exchange. This procedure exchanges your natural eye lens with an artificial  lens that provides visual correction.  Following a full examination we will discuss which lenses would be suitable for your eyes and lifestyle requirements.

We currently use premium quality intra-ocular lenses in the Tecnis range, including extended depth of focus lenses.
